About this project

What you're looking at — and what you're not

This site tracks entries in the City of Calgary's live traffic report that are flagged "incident involving a pedestrian." An independent archiver has been recording that feed to the city's open data portal since December 2016, and this page reads it directly — no scraping, no manual entry.

It undercounts. The feed leans on the traffic-camera network and dispatch notes, so collisions outside camera coverage, minor ones, and anything never reported won't appear. The real toll is higher.
No outcomes. The feed doesn't say whether anyone was injured or killed — only whether EMS was dispatched or on site, which we show as the dot colour.
Gaps happen. The archiver notes occasional outages, and coverage grows as the camera network does — some of the year-over-year rise is better recording, not only more collisions.
Cleaned up. We merge duplicate feed updates for the same incident, and correct a quirk where the source switched to UTC timestamps in November 2025 — everything here is Calgary local time.
